Description

NOTE: The story below contains my theory about how Taka acquired his scar. You don't have to agree with my theory, but please, don't leave any rude or mean comments about it, or tell me that my theory is wrong. This is fiction. No idea is more correct or wrong than another and we shouldn't be getting upset with each other over something like this.

She couldn't believe it. Naanda just couldn't believe her eyes. There, huddled and shivering on the ground, was her beloved Taka, beaten and bloody. Not a region of his body was free of wounds. Though his face was obscured by his paws, it was obvious he was sobbing from the whimpering noises he made.

"What-what happened?" Naanda herself was on the brink of tears.

"Mufasa," Taka's words were barely audible, "Mufasa did this to me. It's all his fault."

Naanda had heard about the fight between the twin princes. Mufasa and Taka had bitterly hated each other since they were cubs, and now their sibling rivalry had exploded into a bloody conflict. Even now, Naanda did not know how Taka, so quiet, and Mufasa, so benign, could have attacked each other so brutally.

"H-he started it," Taka's sobbing increased, "Mufasa, he kept on insulting me and telling me I was good for nothing. And all I did was hit him to make him stop; he was the one who took it too far." Taka finally showed his face, revealing a bloody gash over his left eye.

"Oh my!" Naanda rushed even closer to Taka, "Are you alright? Is your eye ok?" Naanda mentally cursed herself for asking such a question. Of course he wasn't alright. He was obviously in pain, both physically and emotionally. But she worried whether or not his eye would heal, if he would ever be able to see with it again.

"Mganga and Rafiki say it'll heal," he spat bitterly, "but I won't be able to use it for at least the next moon. Everyone is saying that I deserved this, that I provoked him, and that this is all my fault. Even my own mother believes this!"

"Taka, it's not your fault."

"I know it's not my fault! I just want everyone else to see that. Everyone's always siding with their precious heir Mufasa. No one every cares about me." Taka began weeping even greater that before.

Naanda wished she could do something, anything to make Taka feel better, but it seemed that whatever she tried made no difference. Finally, she decided that the best she could do was just be there for her dear Taka.

"I care about you." And with that, she let him weep, weep until he had cried out all of his sorrow.

I have to say, that's a pretty interesting theory.
